The design of the system for the security entrance expansion involved the design of a system to protect three floors. A remote fire riser for each floor of the expansion was supplied off of the existing standpipe. The project was BIM coordinated with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades present. Additional coordination was required to accommodate a blast plate at the first floor security entrance. The blast plate limited or prevented access to structural steel members which limited the use of top beam clamps for hanging the first floor system. Sammy screw fasteners were opted for in this instance as the blast plate was designed to support mechanical equipment. Protection for the dome was omitted per NFPA 13 since it was a non-combustible area with limited access and no storage allowed.
