The design of the Oxford Hich School CTE Building necessitated the use of BIM coordination and specialized seismic bracing methods to effectively protect the building in the event of a fire. Viking Microfast sprinklers were used throughout new construction and renovated areas along with extended coverage and standard spray concealed pendent sprinklers. Complex mechanical rooms required the use of BIM coordination to effectively route pipe and provide adequate protection above and below ductwork that would normally serve as an obstruction to the sprinkler discharge pattern. Additionally, lateral sway bracing was omitted from the second floor of the building as the majority of the hangers supporting cross mains were less than 6″ in length, an exception granted by NFPA 13. Longitudinal bracing and branch line restraints were still provided on this floor per NFPA 13 (2019).
